The CCP
"Plants Must Grow to Succeed" was a favorite drawing of mine my college classmate Jason Dietz. It is possible that a seed had been planted subconsciously in early 2006 when the Plant took steps to open a second location in the historic Corbett Building in Portland's Johns Landing neighborhood. Corbett Avenue Coffee Plant, or CCP, occupies half of the former home of the first Natures grocery store, which we hoped would provide good karma. The other half of the building's ground floor is occupied by the famous Corbett Fish House, who are modestly starting a dietary revolution by serving fantastic gluten-free fish and chips, among other delicious items (chowders and soups, oyster shooters). Not coincidentally, my eldest daughter Greta had been diagnosed with celiac about a year prior, so CCP offers entirely gluten-free fare to complement our fantastic coffee and espresso.
Just as one's second child is entirely different from the first, CCP acts to balance our downtown location's energy with quiet confidence. It is a spot to enjoy a meeting with a friend or colleague, relish some fresh music, or savor a fine espresso. A little extra space allows us to hold coffee cuppings (see Events section for details) and private events.
CCP Announcements:
While we have discontinued sandwiches due to some changes in vendors, we continue to make our excellent gluten-free quiches (crusts courtesy Bavaria Mills). Kim and Talon continue to rotate a unique variety of amazing desserts into the cooler, and we will soon have a new display case to feature their creations more effectively.
It is now easier than ever to take home some delicious Stumptown Coffee beans. Each coffee varietal or blend now comes with a card outlining information about the coffee from growing conditions to its flavor profile. Take advantage of the beautiful new packaging to learn more about what you're drinking.
